Helmet to Helmet Hits

The NFL as you know has eliminated the ability to have helmet to helmet hits. Your team will be penalized and later you will be fined a very good amount of the all in famous cash. Nobody wants to do that. The NFL has become more of a cautious sport the past years making it impossible to hit Quarterbacks above the shoulders or below the knees. That is somewhat understandable considering the QB's are maybe the most flimsy players on a football team. So I believe that everyone can get over that fact about rulings, unless your Ray Lewis who says that because of these rules the league has made. Hint..... Ray if you guys would have played like everybody thinks you are you should have one that game singlehandedly. Everyone has been picking you to win the Super Bowl and you lose to a team who only kicked field goals against you. That is a good c'mon man moment. There are three things that I feel I should make clear to everyone. There are over thousands of hits in a weekend. There are about 100 questionable hits. Only about half of those actually get flagged. So why now would you start enforcing this rule. I have a good reason. De'sean Jackson a great wide receiver and the big play kind of guy. He is developing into a what to watch for kind of guy they one with 75 yard TD receptions and he is what everybody wants to watch. Well if Joe Schmoe was hit and knocked out we wouldn't notice. But since De'sean Jackson was the victim no one can get over it. The NFL wants to make money and if Jackson is out then TV revenues go down and the NFL loses money. SO they want the players to be safe before it gets out of hand. Now really Roger making this rule now isn't going to hep anything. Football is thought to be some hard hitting league where if you don't watch your back then you be eating dirt. That is what the people want to see so if you really want people to watch you let the players play and hit and wish the best for whoever is out on the field.

Football

The football season is already half way through and there are the teams that have no chance making the playoffs the teams on the outside but still have a good chance and the for sure teams. One team that has surprised most of us has to be the Dallas Cowboys. Aren't they the ones who are supposed the win the NFC and go to the super bowl at their own stadium. When the beginning of the season everyone thought if a team was going to the super bowl at their stadium it had to be the Cowboys. But lets get back to reality. The 'boys are 1-4 that is the same record as the Browns, Lions, and even worse than the Rams. All of these teams had picks last year in the top ten spots. (Hint) Not the teams you want to be compared to. Everybody is saying oh its okay they will dig themselves out of it, they'll be fine, there going to win their division still. Well if they played in the NFC West I might believe that fact otherwise I don't even understand the reasoning. The Redskins have a better record and have beaten the Cowboys. The Giants have been playing the best football of their year lately in their wins over the Texans and the Lions. The offense is clicking and are opening up the field. Then there is the Eagles, this is the team that traded Donavon McNabb and everybody, including me, thought this was going to be a rebuilding year. It has been the exact opposite Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick have looked great in their respective starts and with Jackson and Maclin receiving the ball and McCoy running they look as good as ever. Their defense is always going to be solid with the special blitz packages they can throw out there at any time. Also the Cowboys with their 1-4 record have a percentage that backs up my statement, teams that start out 1-4 have a 5% chance of making the playoffs and if you think that they will be okay then I guess the Lions and Browns should still believe they are making the playoffs as well.

The Maiami Heat

The Miami heat have been the main team to make a splash in this 2010 NBA free agency. Signing 3 big names to try to bring the fame back to the South Beaches of Florida. Dwayne Wade Has been with the Heat since they drafted him tin the early 2000's out of Marquette. He was mainly the one the Heat wanted to go after because Miami loved him and was always there to make the big plays and whenever the game was on the line you knew the ball was going to him. That might just have changed though because when the Heat signed Wade who was probably the second best player in free agency immediately after they signed the 3rd best player in Chris Bosh. Now the Heat looked as if they were going to have probably a very good chance to make the playoffs and even advance into later rounds. Then The next day Lebron James was making his decision of his future team. Leron probably being the best player in free agency was making his decision and it was big because the team he was going to next year would immediately have a chance to make a run in the playoffs. So on ESPN Lebron made the decision to go join Wade and Bosh in Miami. Now the favoite team by far in the East has to be the Heat because I believe it has the 3 of the five best players in the league. The other best players are Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant.

Drew's top ten NBA Players

1. Lebron James Miami Heat
2. Kobe Bryant Los Angelos Lakers
3. Dwayne Wade Miami Heat
4. Kevin Durant Oklahoma City Thunder
5. Chris Bosh Miami Heat
6. Dwight Howard Orlando Magic
7. Carmello Anthony Denver Nuggets
8. A'mare Stoudamire New York Knicks
9. Paukl Pierce Boston Celtics
10. Ray Allen Boston Celtics

The Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds are one of the most suprising teams in baseball. The Reds are in second place in the NL Central a half game behind the Cardinals and lead the wild card. The only problem is that they do have a little bit lack of experience except for Scott Rolen and Bronson Arroyo. Arroyo did when a world series while he was with the Red Sox and he beat Scott Rolen's Cards in a four game sweep. They do have that experience which might be key in the long run, but how are the youngsters Like Jay Bruce, Joey Votto, Drew Stubbs, and even Brandon Phillips going to hold up and will the fade in the big moments down to the wire in the race for the division or the wild card. Another strength the Reds have on their side is starting pitching Arroyo is his last three starts is 3-0 with a 1.29 era other starters are Johnny Cueto 9-2 Mike Leake 7-1 Travis Wood 0-1 but still ccarries a 2.20 era with him. Also they can throw the newly added Edinson Volquez who just came of the DL with Tommy John surgery last August, who in his last start threw 6 innings 3 hits 1 walk 1 run and 9 k's with his velocity in the mid to high 90's. The Reds going into the All star break had a 1 game lead over the cardinals but they had one extra day off than cardinals and unfortunatly they haven't lost since the mid summer classic. The Reds have not been terrible since the break only losing one. But the one loss was that straw that broke the camels back which in this case was the division lead and they leap froged the Reds into the lead. Now the Reds will have to keep winning because the Cardinals are not just going to lay over and let you take their glory so I expect a tight race to the finish but I believe the Reds win the division by 1 game.

The Cincinnati Reds

At the beginning of the year I looked at the Reds schedule and the first month opponents I thought they will have to dig out of this hole quickly or it would be another bust season where everything seemed to go wrong. Turns out that it truly did happen. There first series against the Cardinals was not shaping out to favor the Reds after losing the first two games they pulled off a walk off win in the finale. Then the Cubs came to town and the Reds won the first and last games and were back at .500. Then they went to Florida. The Reds won the first two games in extra innings. Then they went on a skid losing 5 straight and being swept by the Pirates. Then the Dodgers came in to town and you thought it could only get worse because the Dodgers have the best record against the Reds. Amazingly the Reds won the series but then San Diego came in and the Reds lost the first two games. The second game of the series changed the season for the Reds. They lost and made about 4 base running blunders. They Won get away day and the won 4 straight after that then lost the next two to the Cardinals. Since then the Reds have been over .500 and are now first place in the division.

The Finals

The finals game seven Lakers vs. Celtics in Los Angeles. I expect the Celtics to come out on top. If the Lakers can pull it off where will this rank Kobe Bryant. Byron Scott on ESPN today said he would rank them in the top 3 EVER. He said Michael Jordan was by far the best but Kobe Bryant was still in the top 3. The Celticsdo not have Kendrik Perkins there starting center and the main inside presence. This means Rasheed Wallace and Glenn Davis have to step up if they want to take the final home to Boston and celebrate for the eighteenth time. The NBA lead and the only team trailing them is as you can guess the Lakers. I will watch a little tonight and I expect the C's to win but If the Lakers pull it off I would not be surprised.

Super Bowl week

Alright this is the last week of football for the season. Exciting even if the teams are not our favorite. Last year with the steelers, the team I hate, played the Cardinals and I was ready. This year will be a good one because both teams are one seeds in their respective conferences. The Colts have to be prepared to not have Dwight Freeney the big pass rusher an all decade player something important for them to remember. I still expect the Colts to win in a close one but watch out for the high flying Saints the underdog.
